Laborer - Unaccompanied Housing

INTRODUCTON: This position is located at Unaccompanied Housing of the Morale Welfare and Recreation Department. The best candidate for this position must be highly motivated, customer service oriented, and is willing and able to work in a fast-paced environment. The primary purpose of this position is to provide general labor as required.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESLoads and unloads heavy boxes, bulky supplies, and materials to and from different areas and stacks as needed. May move supplies by hand, truck, or dollies. Uses a shovel to dig ditches where grading and sloping is not required and to clear sidewalks of dirt and sand. Uses hand and powered tools that do not require heavy physical effort to clear areas. Moves and arranges equipment as needed. Collects and empties garbage. Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:   Knowledge and skill to run lawnmowers, hand buffers, hatchets, saws, and other hand tool requiring the same level of knowledge and skill. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Knowledge and skill to work safely while moving various weighted objects. Ability to complete duties involving distinct tasks independently. Must possess basic math and reading skills. Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing in English.

EVALUATION:   Candidates will be evaluated on quality and nature of the experience pertinent to the position.  Applications must show sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the full range of duties of Laborer.

This position may require the incumbent to drive a vehicle around the installation.  A valid Guantanamo Bay driver’s license is required within 90 days of hire.

This position requires successful completion of a background check.
