CUSTODIAL WORKER / 3 POSITIONS
INTRODUCTION
This position is located in the Navy Gateway Inns and Suites operation Naval Station, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of custodial and semi-skilled laboring duties, ensuring that assigned areas are kept in a clean and well-maintained condition.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
On a daily basis dust, waxes/polishes furniture; empties wastebaskets and sweeps/vacuum room. Cleans, sanitizes and or deodorizes bathrooms ensuring bathrooms are properly restocked with supplies, amenities and linen. Cleans/sanitize kitchen area and restock supplies. Changes bed linen upon checkout, completes all daily duties and replaces all bed linens, bath linens, waste basket liners, cleans sills, mirrors and ensures room is ready for occupancy. Counts and sorts linen removed from individual rooms. Prepares linens in/out report daily and gives it to supervisor, ensuring any missing linen is reported. Incumbent performs such duties as sweeping, buffing, vacuuming, dusting, scrubbing, mopping and sanitizing bathroom fixtures, wiping down table tops, booths and chairs. Empties ashtrays and wastebaskets. Polishes door knobs and other metal fixtures. Wash walls, windows, and blinds that can be reach without climbing ladders or scaffolds. Collects soiled linen and places it at a pick up point. Keeps restrooms clean, orderly, and sanitary condition. Sweeps, scrubs, and waxes floors. Cleans, disinfects and deodorizes lavatories, sinks, and toilet bowls. Cleans mirrors, and water fountains. Dusts ledges and woodwork. Replaces deodorizers, and toilet tissues. Notes condition of facilities and reports to maintenance. Keeps a stock of cleaning materials and equipment needed to do the work. Tells supervisor when more materials are needed or when equipment needs repair or replacement. Performs seasonal tasks as required; such as picking up litter around buildings, mowing grass, and watering lawns around assigned building. Performs other duties as assigned.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must demonstrate knowledge of the proper uses of a variety of special cleaning and sanitizing solutions and how to remove different kinds of stains from a wide variety of surfaces. Must be able to clean and make adjustments to power cleaning equipment. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing with management, staff and guests.
